Live Scanner Project:
To listen to (almost) live audio use link below. There's actually about a 5 second delay between when the scanner "hears" the audio and when you hear it, but that's mostly due to the fact that the whole thing is running on an old Pentium II 400...
This link will open in whatever program you have set to open .m3u files. Winamp, Windows Media Player, Real Player, iTunes, etc will all play the audio.
If you use Winamp to listen to the feed, usually, the frequency that is active at the moment will scroll across in the "Title" field. This feature ONLY works in Winamp, and even then, it's flaky at best.
You can also access the feed directly, by opening Winamp, and clicking "File"..."Play URL"...and typing "scan.stationeight.net" in the box (no quotes).
The scanner currently scans the following frequencies:
33.44 (Priority channel...Activity on this frequency will cause the scanner to return it it immediately, even if it is listening to another active frequency)
33.72
33.78
33.80
33.88
33.90
Ch 4 UHF
SIRENS
WW
UC
And other frequencies...
Suggestions are welcome...
There is a chance that when you attempt to listen to the scanner that you will not be able to connect. This is most likely due to one of four reasons: 1) There are 5 other people already listening to the scanner (too many people listening at one time takes up too much bandwidth, which causes Charter to get mad, which causes... 2) Charter has blocked the port that streams the audio from my server to you (due to high bandwidth usage). Worst case scenario, Charter gets really mad, and turns off the internet service at my house, which causes my parents to get mad, which causes all sorts of issues for me. 3) The power is out at my house (or something else is causing my server not to work properly). 4) Something is wrong at your end. Make sure you have the latest version of Windows Media Player, Winamp, or whatever it is that you are using.
